Troops resumed Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) with the first light on Friday in the dense woods at Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir, where an infiltrator was killed in an encounter on Thursday.
Defence sources told that with the first light this morning, the troops launched a massive CASO in the dense forest in Keran sector. Troops from different directions have joined the operation to flush out the infiltrators if any, they said adding that so far, no fresh contact was established with the militants.
A Defence ministry spokesman said last night that troops guarding the LoC at Keran sector noticed suspicious move of unidentified persons on Thursday. He said militants trying to infiltrate into this side were intercepted by troops and contact was established.
