Vinay Kumar Gupta BJP District President Jammu along with JMC Chairman health and Sanitation Committee Baldev Singh Billowaria launched ‘Green Jammu Clean Jammu’ drive in Ward No. 21 Opposite Canara Bank, Park No.35 Gandhi Nagar, Jammu where hundreds of saplings were planted in different areas of the ward and everyone pledged to save the environment by motivating others as well.
Vinay Kumar Gupta and Baldev Singh Billowaria was the main guest during the plantation drive. They were also feliciated by the Parmaarth trust and inhabitants of the area.
Parmaarth trust NGO members namely Ankush Dogra, Manik Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Shriya Mahajan, Soniya Giri, Heena Sharma and Niharika Gupta organised the special plantation and awareness drive to make the city of temples more green, clean and beautiful and saplings were provided by Floriculture department.
Detailing objectives of the drive, Vinay Gupta said that main aim of launching a campaign is to focus people’s attention on the importance of planting trees and to sensitize them about environment issues.
He called upon the people to be part of the drive and contribute to the cause of preserving environment by planting trees in their surroundings. The problems of soil erosion, erratic rainfall, landslides, disturbed ecological balance and pollution are direct consequences of decreasing green cover, he added.
Underscoring on giving utmost attention to the conservation of ecosystem, Vinay Gupta said that the green gold has an important role in maintaining fine balance of the ecosystem and increased green cover would go a long way in preserving the ecological balance on the planet.
Vinay Gupta also praised the members of the trust and inhabitants of the area for taking such a good step on this occasion of plantation drive.
Vinay Gupta emphasize monsoon season has been selected for the drive as the time is conducive for new plantation and special attention has been laid on selecting the variety of plants. He said the drive would not stop at planting new trees only but focus would be laid to ensure proper care and attention of the planted sapling adding that special regular watering dose of organic manure provision of tree guards avoiding plants from construction waste and well-drained deep sandy soil would help plants to grow in a healthy manner.
Later Vinay Gupta appealed the inhabitants to follow the guidelines issued by the Government for controlling the further spread of corona virus among the public and maintain social distance, use face cover masks, Sanitizers to avoid the pandemic.
While, Baldev Singh Billowaria speaking on the occasion on the importance of protecting the environment and stated that it is the duty of every individual to take care of our environment and preserving it for the future generations. He said that Good life will come only when we have a healthy environment to live in. He also urged every citizen to plant a tree in the name of each child in their family for a better future.
Baldev Singh Billowaria further said In the blind race of development, we forget the mantra of Indian culture that nature is our mother and it cannot be exploited. This is the reason why the temperature of the earth is increasing and badly affected climate. The world is afraid of climate change. There is the only way which our saints and ‘puranas’ had told us that trees are friends of human and only trees can save us. Indian culture has accepted the importance of trees and encouraged it,” he said.
Interacted with the inhabitants, Vinay Gupta and Baldev Singh Billowaria appealed the people to become the part of ongoing drive by planting trees in open and degraded areas of their locality to create a healthy environment.
Indu Bhushsn Sharma, M.L.Vaid, PR Gupta, Dr Karan Gupta, Narinder Gupta Koki, Rohiin Chandan, Arvind Gupta, Vishal Verma, Abhinandan Bhardwaj, Varun Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Nitu Gupta and other prominent were present during the plantation drive.
