On Saturday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 44 locations in Maharashtra and Karnataka, leading to the arrest of 13 individuals allegedly involved in an ISIS terror conspiracy.
The agency, working in close collaboration with police forces of both states, raided locations in Karnataka (1), Pune (2), Thane city (9), Thane Rural (31), and Bhayander (1).
The investigation revealed a criminal conspiracy involving the accused and their associates, who pledged allegiance to the extremist ideologies of Al-Qaeda and ISIS. They formed a terrorist gang aimed at recruiting like-minded individuals and conducting religious classes to promote violent jihad and establish Islamic rule in India.
