Kathua Police, continuing its “War on Drugs” initiative, has seized approximately 6.5 grams of heroin (chitta) and arrested a drug peddler in the Beerian Pattan area of Hatli.
On April 7, 2025, a police team, led by PSI Shubham Mahajan of Police Post Hatli, under the supervision of DySP Ravinder Singh and SHO Sandeep Chib, conducted a routine patrol and checkpoint operation. During the operation, they apprehended Shakoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Ayoub, a resident of Lohai Malhar currently residing near AV2 Mall Kathua. A physical search of Ahmed revealed approximately 6.5 grams of heroin.
The seized narcotics were confiscated, and Ahmed was arrested on the spot. A case, FIR No. 164/2025, under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Kathua, and an investigation is underway.
