Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday offered his final respects to Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who tragically died in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
While addressing the media, Chief Minister Abdullah conveyed his condolences and pledged comprehensive support to the bereaved family.
“We strongly condemn this act and extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this devastating event. Our guests came here from elsewhere to enjoy their holidays, and regrettably, they are now being sent back in coffins. From what I understand, Adil bravely attempted to thwart the attack, possibly even trying to seize the weapon, which led to him being targeted. It is our duty to care for this family, to provide them with assistance, and I am here to assure them that the government stands firmly with them and will do everything within its power to help,” stated CM Omar Abdullah.
Syed Adil Hussain Shah, a horse rider, was the sole provider for his family. His untimely death has plunged his family into deep sorrow and financial uncertainty, as they grapple with their loss and seek justice for the killing of an innocent man.
Speaking with ANI, Syed Adil Hussain Shah’s father, Syed Haider Shah, voiced his profound grief and insisted that those responsible for the terror attack must be held accountable.
“My son was the only one who earned for our family. He went to Pahalgam yesterday for work, and around 3 pm, we heard about the attack. We tried calling him, but his phone was off. Later, at 4:30 pm, his phone was switched on, but no one answered. We immediately went to the police station, and that’s where we learned that he had been injured in the attack. My son has been martyred, and he was our only source of income. We demand justice for his death. He was an innocent man. Why was he killed? Whoever is responsible must face severe consequences,” he expressed.
Shah’s mother spoke of the irreplaceable void left by her son’s passing, saying, “He was our only support. He used to ride horses and earn money to provide for us. Now, there is no one else to take care of us. We don’t know how we will manage without him.”
This incident marks one of the most significant terror attacks in the region since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019. Following the attack, security forces initiated extensive search operations on Wednesday to locate the terrorists involved.
