It’s been a tense few days along the Line of Control. For the fourth night in a row, Pakistani troops engaged in unprovoked firing, this time targeting Indian positions in the Poonch and Kupwara districts of Jammu and Kashmir, according to army officials on Monday.
A defence spokesperson stated that the firing, which involved small arms, began during the night of April 27-28 at posts opposite these districts. Indian troops responded promptly and effectively to the violation.
This latest incident occurs against a backdrop of increased tension between India and Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam last week. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties resulting from this latest ceasefire violation.
