Baramulla police have successfully solved a recent theft case with the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the stolen property.
A police spokesperson reported that on April 29, 2025, Police Station Uri received a formal complaint from Altaf Ahmad Lone, a resident of Uri. Mr. Lone stated that his scooty, bearing registration number JK05N-5492, was stolen from the roadside near his home during the night of April 28-29, 2025.
In response to the complaint, a case was registered at Police Station Uri under FIR No. 45/2025, corresponding to Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation was launched immediately.
The investigation involved a meticulous analysis of CCTV footage obtained from the area where the theft occurred and its surroundings. This evidence led the investigating team to identify a key suspect, Gulzar Ahmad Parray, a resident of Balkote. Following persistent questioning, Mr. Parray admitted to his involvement in the crime. He was subsequently arrested, and based on the information he provided, the stolen scooty was successfully recovered from his possession. The spokesperson added that further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
