Following a thwarted drone and missile attack by Pakistan targeting military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah traveled to Jammu on Friday to assess the situation.
“Driving to Jammu now to take stock of the situation after last night’s failed Pakistani drone attack directed at Jammu city & other parts of the division,” Abdullah posted on X.
He also stated that the government will reassess the previously ordered school closures for Monday, with any extension dependent on the prevailing circumstances.
Earlier, Education Minister Sakina Itoo had announced a two-day school closure due to the heightened tensions.
Reports of sirens and explosions surfaced from Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, and Kupwara on Thursday night.
The Indian Ministry of Defence affirmed that India is “fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people” after successfully countering the Pakistani offensive.
