Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah voiced strong disapproval of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran on Friday, stating that “war anywhere is not a good thing.” He questioned Israel’s justification for the attack, especially given a past statement from its intelligence chief indicating Iran was not close to building a nuclear bomb.
“What exactly did Iran do that forced Israel to attack? The sooner this conflict ends, the better,” Abdullah asserted while interacting with the media after inaugurating “Raabta,” an outreach office in Jammu designed for efficient grievance redressal.
Abdullah highlighted the humanitarian impact of the conflict, noting that over 6,000 Indians, including 1,400 from Jammu and Kashmir, are currently stranded in Iran. He confirmed that evacuation efforts are underway, with 90 students from Jammu and Kashmir already repatriated and another 400 moved to safer locations. He acknowledged initial issues with bus conditions for evacuees arriving in Delhi but stated that proper vehicles were subsequently arranged.
