A drug peddler, Asif Iqbal of Kishtwar, has been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Iqbal had established his base in the Bhatindi area of Jammu city, where he was supplying drugs to local youths. Due to his consistent involvement in drug peddling and criminal activities, the police deemed it necessary to take stringent preventive measures against him.
After obtaining orders from higher authorities, the police arrested Iqbal on Wednesday and sent him to district jail in Kishtwar.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal said the police are committed to eliminating the menace of drug abuse from society and protecting the youth of Kishtwar.
