A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on Friday night, killing at least 128 people and injuring 140 others. The quake hit Jajarkot and Rukum West districts, and rescue teams are struggling to reach some areas due to damaged bridges and landslides. The Nepali government is focusing on the rescue and treatment of the injured.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal visited the affected area on Saturday morning along with health workers and helicopters. The government has not yet taken details of the damage to houses and other infrastructure.
This is the deadliest earthquake in Nepal since a 7.8-magnitude quake in 2015 killed some 9,000 people.
