Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital, shivered through its coldest night of the season so far, with temperatures plummeting to -4.8 degrees Celsius. This marked a further drop from the previous night’s -4.4 degrees Celsius. The entire Kashmir valley experienced below-freezing temperatures, with Qazigund, Kokernag, and Kupwara recording lows of -3.4, -2.4, and -4.0 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Pahalgam, a base camp for the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, saw a minimum temperature of -4.7 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg, a popular skiing destination, remained at its previous night’s low of -3.6 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department predicts generally cloudy but dry weather until December 16th. A further dip in night temperatures is also expected.
