Srinagar shivered through its coldest night of the season on Wednesday, December 13th, with the mercury plummeting to -5.3°C. Sub-zero temperatures were recorded across all stations in Kashmir, with Qazigund, the gateway to the valley, experiencing a low of -3.2°C.
Popular tourist destinations also felt the bite of the cold, with Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort, recording a low of -5.5°C and Pahalgam registering a minimum temperature of -5.3°C. Kupwara and Kokernag were not spared either, with temperatures dipping to -3.7°C and -2.1°C respectively.
This significant drop in temperature marks a further deepening of the cold wave that has gripped Kashmir. As we head further into winter, residents and visitors are advised to take necessary precautions to stay warm and safe.
