A suspicious object was found alongside the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Nagrota, Jammu, on Tuesday morning. Police and security forces were immediately dispatched to the scene.
A technical examination of the object was conducted, and it was determined to be an IED. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called to the scene and destroyed the IED through a controlled mechanism.
No one was injured in the incident. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
The IED was found in the Panjgrain area of Nagrota, which is a major transportation hub. The highway is used by thousands of people every day, so it is fortunate that the IED was found and destroyed before it could cause any harm.
The police are investigating the origins of the IED and who is responsible for placing it. They are also working to determine if there are any other IEDs in the area.
The public is being urged to be vigilant and report any suspicious objects to the police.
