Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday promised to develop the untapped tourist spots of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that if his party comes to power in the state, he will ensure that these areas are turned into “Switzerland”.
Azad made the promise during his four-day tour of Marwah and Warwan, two of the most remote areas in Kishtwar. He said that the successive governments have ignored these areas, which are home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the state.
Azad promised to construct tunnels, provide electricity, and cellular connectivity to these areas. He also said that he will establish a tourism authority to promote these destinations.
“I have seen the situation for myself. There is no electricity, no mobile connectivity, and the roads are in bad shape. These areas need to be connected to the rest of the country,” Azad said.
The residents of Marwah and Warwan welcomed Azad’s promises. They said that they have been waiting for development for many years.
“We are happy that Mr. Azad has visited our areas and listened to our problems. We hope that he will fulfill his promises,” said a resident of Marwah.
Azad also assured the youth of Marwah and Warwan that he will conduct a special police recruitment drive for them. He said that he will also establish more blocks and schools in these areas.
“I want to give the youth of these areas a bright future. I will do everything I can to develop this region,” Azad said.
Azad’s promises have been met with a positive response from the people of Kishtwar. They are hopeful that he will be able to deliver on his promises and bring development to their region.
