The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today announced the arrest of Tahir Jan Malla, a Patwari from Halqa Humchipora, Budgam, on bribery charges. Malla was caught red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000.
The arrest followed a complaint filed with the ACB by an individual who alleged that Malla demanded Rs 2,000 for each of two sale deeds to process the online mutation (Intiqal) of land located in Alamnaag Khag, Budgam, in the complainant’s favor.
Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB conducted a discreet verification, which corroborated the bribe demand. Subsequently, Case FIR No. 14/2025 was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Police Station ACB Srinagar, and an investigation was launched.
During the investigation, a trap team was formed. This team successfully apprehended Malla, a resident of Sebdan Budgam, in the act of demanding and accepting the bribe money from the complainant.
Following medico-legal formalities, the accused public servant was taken into custody. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
