Six officials, including a Motor Vehicle Inspector, were suspended by the Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday following a deadly bus accident.
The accident occurred on Thursday when a bus carrying pilgrims on their way to a shrine in Reasi district plunged into a gorge near Akhnoor. The tragedy resulted in the deaths of 22 people, including six children and eight women. Additionally, 69 others were injured, including 17 children and 29 women.
The suspensions stem from concerns about potential negligence on the part of transportation officials. The government has initiated an inquiry to investigate the conduct and potential dereliction of duty by these officials. The inquiry officer has been instructed to submit a report with recommendations within a week.

Parmvir Singh, Additional Secretary (Technical) of the J&K Road Safety Council Secretariat, has been appointed as the inquiry officer. He is tasked with investigating whether the officials failed to perform their duties as expected.
