Amarnath Yatra Resumes via Baltal, Pahalgam Route Still Closed

The Amarnath Yatra has recommenced from the Baltal route as of Thursday, following a temporary suspension due to heavy rainfall. However, the pilgrimage remains on hold along the Pahalgam axis to allow for urgent maintenance and repairs necessitated by the recent downpours that rendered the roads unsafe.

Officials confirmed the resumption of the Yatra from Baltal this morning. To ensure safety, no convoy movement will be permitted towards the Baltal and Nunwan base camps from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Thursday.

This year’s annual Yatra, which began on July 3, has already seen over 3.93 lakh pilgrims pay their respects at the holy cave shrine. The pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 9.
