Anantnag Police have arrested two individuals and recovered a significant amount of contraband substances in separate operations conducted in the Bijbehara and Sangam areas.
In Bijbehara, a police party at a checkpoint near Dupatyar Crossing intercepted Mohd Yousuf Mir, son of Gh Ahmad Mir, a resident of Dupatyar. During a search, 1 Kg of Charas powder was recovered from his possession.
In a separate operation in Sangam, a police team at a checkpoint at Nati Pora Sangam Bund arrested Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Wali Mohammad Dar, a resident of Nati Pora Sangam. Authorities recovered 1.290 Kgs of a charas-like substance from him.
Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law, and investigations into both incidents have begun.
The J&K Police reiterate their commitment to eradicating drug use from society and urge the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
