Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo recently chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Jammu & Kashmir, expressing concern over the slow pace of rooftop solar installations. He called for immediate acceleration, setting monthly targets of 2,000 installations for JPDCL and 1,000 for KPDCL.
Dulloo also stressed the importance of quickly commissioning already installed systems to ensure beneficiaries receive their benefits without delay. He urged the Power Development Department (PDD) to launch an aggressive Information, Education & Communication (IEC) campaign to raise public awareness and mobilize registered applicants.
Principal Secretary, PDD, Rajesh Prasad, acknowledged the initial lag but assured that progress is now steady. He revealed that J&K has proactively set an ambitious target of 83,500 residential consumers to benefit from the scheme by March 31, 2027, with daily, fortnightly, and monthly monitoring in place.
