Jammu – Today, Sunday, July 27, 2025, marks the departure of the 25th batch of Amarnath pilgrims from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp. A total of 2,197 pilgrims, including 365 women, embarked on their journey to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine located in the south Kashmir Himalayas.
The contingent also includes 49 sadhus and 10 sadhvis. Under strict security, the pilgrims departed in separate convoys during the early hours of the day, heading for the twin base camps of Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal in Ganderbal.
Of the departing pilgrims, 1,624 are en route to the Pahalgam base camp in a convoy of 62 vehicles. The remaining 573 pilgrims have chosen the Baltal route, traveling in 38 vehicles.
The 38-day annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-meter high cave shrine commenced on July 3 and is scheduled to conclude on August 9, coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan festival. So far, over 3.70 lakh pilgrims have visited the shrine.
