National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah announced on Saturday that the Congress has scheduled a meeting of opposition leaders in New Delhi for August 7. The primary agenda of this meeting is to strategize for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, anticipated to take place in October-November.
Abdullah also expressed optimism about the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, stating, “We have faith in the one who is the master of all. We will get our rights.”
Addressing Rahul Gandhi’s claim of having “atom bomb” evidence regarding “vote chori” by the Election Commission for the BJP, Abdullah noted, “Gandhi has said that they have made such an arrangement that they will win the Bihar elections.” Abdullah, who is attending the August 7 meeting, added, “I am going to meet him. All the leaders (of INDIA bloc) have been called for a meeting on August 7 and I will find out (the truth).” Gandhi had previously asserted that when this “atom bomb” explodes, the Election Commission will have nowhere to hide.
When questioned about the NC’s decision not to support the Congress’s chain hunger strike for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled from August 9 to 21, Abdullah clarified that the National Conference is already actively advocating for this cause. “We are fighting for it (restoration of statehood). When did we stop talking? Whenever (chief minister) Omar Abdullah met the prime minister (Narendra Modi), he raised this issue with him,” Abdullah stated.
Regarding his expectations from Prime Minister Modi during the ongoing Parliament session, Abdullah expressed skepticism about the current Jammu and Kashmir government’s ability to achieve significant results, pointing out their inability to fill Rajya Sabha seats and vacant assembly seats.
