Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, has experienced its hottest June day in two decades, with temperatures soaring to 35.2°C today. This surpasses previous June records for the past 20 years. The all-time highest temperature recorded in Srinagar for June was 37.8°C on June 29, 1978.
Qazigund Also Reaches Historic Highs
Meanwhile, Qazigund registered 34.7°C, marking its highest June temperature since 1988. This makes it the third all-time highest June temperature for Qazigund. For context, the second all-time highest temperature there was 35.3°C on June 27, 1988, and the highest ever was 35.7°C on June 26, 1988.
Heatwave to Continue, Rains Expected
Kashmir is currently under an intense heatwave forecast to persist until Saturday, after which isolated heavy rains are anticipated. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the heat.
