The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Patwari from Halqa Khanpur, Tehsil Marheen, Kathua, for accepting a ₹15,000 bribe. The Patwari, Sudershan Khajuria, allegedly demanded the bribe to correct a Girdawari entry in revenue records. Initially, Khajuria demanded ₹30,000, threatening to tamper with the complainant’s records if the bribe wasn’t paid. The complainant had already paid ₹5,000 and, after negotiation, the Patwari agreed to accept ₹15,000 instead of the initially demanded ₹25,000.
The complainant then reported the incident to the ACB. After verifying the complaint, the ACB registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. A trap team was formed and caught Khajuria red-handed accepting the ₹15,000 bribe. The money was recovered, and Khajuria was arrested. Searches were also conducted at his residence and office. Further investigation is underway.
