Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested an FCI godown owner and a weigher for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹3500 from a truck driver in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The complainant, a truck driver, had approached the ACB with a complaint that he was being forced to pay a bribe to get his truck unloaded at the FCI godown in Chandpora. The ACB laid a trap and caught the weigher red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The arrested godown owner has been identified as Ab Majeed Sheikh and the weigher as Tajamul Hassan Shah. During the investigation, it was revealed that the drivers of all the trucks that transport food grains for the FCI at the Chandpora godown were being forced to pay bribes.
The ACB is further investigating the case and expects to make more arrests.
