Budgam Police, continuing their efforts to combat drug trafficking, arrested a drug peddler in the Beerwah area and seized contraband.
Officers from Police Station Beerwah, led by SI Ashiq Ahmad, established a checkpoint at Rankipora. During the operation, they apprehended Mohammad Saleem Shah, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, a resident of Pati Sail Beerwah, after he attempted to flee. A search of Shah revealed three sticks of charas, concealed in corn husks.
Shah was immediately arrested, and a case (FIR No. 24/2025, under section 8/20 of the NDPS Act) has been registered at Police Station Beerwah. An investigation is underway.
