Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi have offered their condolences on the deaths of Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh. The two jawans were killed during an anti-terrorist operation in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff shared a message on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff and All Ranks of #IndianArmedForces salute the supreme sacrifice of Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, who laid down their life in the line of duty in #Kashmir. Our deepest condolences to the bereaved families; we stand firmly by your side in this hour of grief.”
Similarly, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and all ranks of the Indian Army paid tribute to the two soldiers. They offered their deepest condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of their full support.
Sepoy Harminder Singh was cremated with full military honors in his village of Badinpur in Fatehgarh Sahib district. A number of local residents and political leaders attended the ceremony to pay their respects and tribute to the fallen soldier. During the ceremony, officials and the local MLA assured the family of all possible assistance.
The two jawans died on the ninth day of the ongoing operation in the Akhal Devsar area. So far, one terrorist has been neutralized in the operation. The Chinar Corps also paid tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the two soldiers.
