Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led a high-level meeting to assess the performance of the Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB). He emphasized the critical need to streamline the recruitment process, making it both timely and transparent.
Indu Kanwal Chib, Chairperson of the JKSSB, provided a detailed report on recruitment activities since 2019. Her presentation included a department-wise breakdown of advertised posts, those currently undergoing examination, and positions in the final stages of selection. She highlighted both achievements and ongoing challenges across various departments.
A key concern raised was the delay in advertising several posts due to departments failing to submit indents promptly or, in some instances, requiring revisions to recruitment rules to align with current job requirements. To enhance fairness and transparency, the Board proposed conducting all future recruitment examinations under CCTV surveillance.
The meeting also addressed significant delays in Class IV recruitment, prompting the Chief Minister to direct the Board to accelerate the selection process and resolve all procedural hurdles. He further called for an upgrade of facilities within the Service Selection Board and a reinforcement of its legal and administrative frameworks.
Chief Minister Abdullah reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to transparent governance, assuring that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure fair and open recruitment. He stressed that improving efficiency across all departments would build public trust, enhance institutional effectiveness, and facilitate the filling of vacant posts, thereby providing employment opportunities for qualified youth in J&K.
Attendees at the meeting included Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, Principal Secretary Finance, Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department, Commissioner Secretary Cooperatives Department, Secretary Law, Chairperson JKSSB, and other senior officers.
