“Danesh Rana, a 1996-batch IPS officer from the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA). CoBRA, an elite unit specializing in guerrilla and jungle warfare, is primarily deployed in anti-Naxal and counter-insurgency operations. Rana’s extensive experience, including his previous role as IGP Jammu where he managed regional law and order, is anticipated to enhance CoBRA’s operational capabilities and strengthen the CRPF’s internal security efforts.”
