Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sachin Kumar Vaishya convened a meeting to accelerate the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) implementation in the district.
Key attendees included Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, Joint Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), and officials from Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), the Housing Department, and Jammu Development Authority (JDA).
The DC stressed the urgency of expediting PMAY-U construction. He instructed SDMs to actively supervise progress within their ULBs, ensuring timely advancement through key construction stages: plinth, lintel, and roof. To address stalled projects, he mandated the prompt resolution of any underlying issues.
A strict one-month deadline was set for completing houses at the roof or lintel stage. Furthermore, the DC emphasized the necessity of conducting thorough ground verification of all ongoing constructions.
The meeting also addressed the launch of PMAY 2.0 in Jammu district. The DC urged officials to organize targeted awareness campaigns to educate potential beneficiaries and provide application assistance.
Executive Officers reported existing awareness sessions, and the DC reinforced the importance of these initiatives to ensure eligible beneficiaries are well-informed and supported.
