New Delhi – The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced a press briefing scheduled for Wednesday at 10:00 AM regarding “Operation Sindoor.” This announcement follows reports from CNN and ANI detailing significant military action by India inside Pakistan’s undisputed territory and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
According to these reports, Indian Armed Forces conducted their deepest strikes since the 1971 war, successfully targeting terror camps in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. The operation aimed to eliminate key leaders from Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) involved in planning and executing terrorist attacks against India.
In its statement, the MoD confirmed the operation, stating, “‘OPERATION SINDOOR’ has hit terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.” The ministry emphasized that the actions were “focused, measured and non-escalatory” and clarified that “no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted.”
Sources told ANI that Indian forces successfully struck nine terror targets – four in Pakistan (Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot) and five in PoJK – using special precision munitions in a coordinated operation involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly monitored the operation throughout the night.
The timing of these strikes follows an incident on Tuesday night where the Indian Army reported that three innocent civilians were killed due to unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) opposite Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistan forces reportedly engaged in indiscriminate firing and artillery shelling on civilian areas. The Indian Army stated it was responding “in a proportionate manner” to this aggression.
