Drug Peddler Arrested with Heroin in Kathua

In a continued crackdown on drug dealing within the district, Kathua Police have arrested a drug peddler and seized approximately 6.45 grams of heroin (Chitta) in the Chakra Bridge area of Hiranagar.

The arrest was made on July 31, 2025, by a police team led by Inspector Ashish Sharma, Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Hiranagar, under the supervision of SP Operations Kathua, Sh. Mukund Tibrewal IPS, and SDPO Border, Sh. Dheeraj Singh Katoch.

During a routine naka checking at Chakra Bridge, officers noticed a suspicious individual and directed him to stop for a search. Upon physical examination, approximately 6.45 grams of a heroin-like substance were recovered from the possession of the suspect, identified as Zafir Iqbal, son of Lal Hussain, resident of Bhamberwah, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua.

The recovered narcotics were immediately seized, and Zafir Iqbal was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Hiranagar Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

Under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS, the District Police continue their relentless efforts to neutralize the activities of drug peddlers and reassure community members of their commitment to keeping society free from the menace of drugs.
