Heavy torrential rains have caused significant destruction in Trilla Village, Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, leaving several houses severely damaged or completely collapsed. Residents are now facing an urgent need for shelter and government assistance.
Sharda Devi, a distraught villager, shared her heartbreaking experience after her home was completely destroyed. “Our house has completely collapsed. Now, where will we keep our children? The place where we kept our belongings also has cracks. First, one wall fell, then another,” she recounted, highlighting the sudden and complete loss of her home.
Her son, Pawan Kumar, whose house was also reduced to rubble, appealed to the government for immediate relief. “My house collapsed due to heavy rain. Please help us as much as you can and provide us with a place to live. We demand that the government give us accommodation, and until then, tents should be arranged for us,” he urged. Kumar also emphasized that the devastation extended beyond his family, stating, “Because of the heavy rain, 3-4 more houses also fell in our village,” underscoring the widespread impact of the ongoing monsoon on the hilly district.
