The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Monday that more than Rs 1,760 crore worth of inducements, including freebies, drugs, cash, liquor, and precious metals, have been seized in the five poll-bound states since the announcement of elections on October 9. This figure is over seven times (Rs 239.15 crore) the amount of seizures made during the previous assembly elections in these states in 2018.
Assembly polls have already been held in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram, while voting will take place in Rajasthan and Telangana on November 25 and November 30, respectively.
