An impostor posed as a doctor for three days at Srinagar’s premier maternity hospital, Lal Ded Hospital, before being arrested on Wednesday. He was seen conducting rounds and examining patients in the labour room.
When confronted, the impostor claimed to be a doctor from Anantnag’s Dialgam area and said he was a cardiologist. However, he was unable to produce any documents to prove his qualifications. He was arrested and the police are investigating how he was able to gain access to the hospital and pose as a doctor for so long.
The medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Muzaffar Sherwani, has ordered an audit of the hospital’s security to determine how the breach occurred.
Police say the impostor is from Ganderbal district and may have mental health issues. His family has been called in to provide more information.
