Fallen Heroes Honored: LG Sinha, Army Commander, Police Pay Respects to Rajouri Martyrs

A memorial service was held in Jammu on Friday to honor five soldiers who were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Rajouri district.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, and other officials paid floral tributes to the martyrs.

The soldiers were identified as Captain M V Pranjal, Captain Shubham Gupta, Havaldar Abdul Majid, Lance Naik Sanjay Bist, and Paratrooper Sachin Laur. They were all killed in a 36-hour-long gunfight with security forces on Wednesday and Thursday.

The coffins of the martyred soldiers were wrapped in the tricolour and airlifted to their native places for their last rites.

The deaths of the soldiers have been met with widespread grief and anger. Many people have called for the government to do more to protect its soldiers from terrorist attacks.

The Indian government has condemned the attack and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
