Farmers compensated for land acquired by BSF, says J&K CM

In response to inquiries within the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that compensation was being paid to farmers who had lost land due to BSF border fencing projects. He detailed that the BSF had acquired 13,415 kanals of land across 113 villages within the Samba and Kathua districts.

Of the total Rs 1,555.08 crore provided for this purpose, Rs 144.12 crore had been successfully distributed to the affected landowners. The Chief Minister added that the balance of the funds were in the process of title verification before the funds could be distributed.
