Handwara – In a significant action targeting cross-border terrorism, Handwara Police on Saturday attached immovable properties belonging to two Pakistan-based terror handlers from Monbal, Handwara. The properties were seized as part of a long-standing terrorism case, under stringent anti-terror laws.
The operation was executed based on a court order dated June 20, 2025, issued under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which permits the attachment of assets of proclaimed offenders.
The individuals identified are Mohd Shafi Bara, son of Sawariya Bara, and Gh. Mustafa, son of Alif Ud Din, both residents of Monbal, Handwara. Both men are believed to have moved to Pakistan and are accused of playing pivotal roles in coordinating and facilitating terrorist activities from across the border, allegedly orchestrating numerous terror-related incidents in the region over several years.
The action is connected to FIR No. 198/2003, registered at Police Station Handwara. The charges in this case include Sections 13 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Sections 2/3 and 3/4 of the Explosive Substances Act, and Sections 120B, 121A, 302, and 307 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
