Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 due to an ankle injury. He will be replaced by fast bowler Prasidh Krishna.
Pandya had hurt his ankle while bowling during India’s World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune. He missed all of the ensuing games and was unable to recover in time for the knockout stages.
Krishna has 19 white-ball appearances to his name for India and was last seen at the international level when he picked up the wicket of David Warner in the match against Australia just prior to the World Cup.
Krishna will be competing with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj for a place in India’s pace attack. He is available for selection for Sunday’s crucial World Cup clash against South Africa.
