The Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been held in Pakistan after crossing the Line of Control (LoC), was returned to India today, Wednesday.
According to a BSF statement, the handover of the 40-year-old jawan occurred at approximately 10:30 AM via the Joint Check Post Attari in Amritsar. Shaw had been in the custody of Pakistan Rangers since April 23, 2025, after inadvertently crossing the international border in the Ferozepur district of Punjab. The BSF emphasized that the return was conducted peacefully and followed established protocols. Shaw’s detention came a day after a tragic incident in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where terrorists killed 26 tourists.
