The Jammu and Kashmir administration has transferred land to the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to install towers in 300 remote villages of the union territory.
The land has been given free of cost to the government-owned telecom operator as part of a scheme to ensure uninterrupted connectivity under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF).
The towers will be installed in 100 identified places in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including the hilly and border belts.
The move is expected to provide high-speed internet access to the residents of these villages, who have been facing connectivity issues for a long time.
