In a significant crackdown on illegal mining, the Sopore Police, in collaboration with the Geology and Mining Department, seized one JCB machine and two tractors involved in the unlawful extraction of minerals. Three drivers were also arrested in the operation.
A team led by SHO PS Tarzoo Insp. Sajad Ahamd under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, carried out the action.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
1. Khalid Majeed War S/O Abdul Majeed War,
2. Mohammad Iqbal Hajam S/O Ghulam Mohammad Hajam and
3. Mohammad Ashraf War S/O Ghulam Mohammad War all the residents of Putkha.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of law at Police Station Tarzoo, and investigations are ongoing.
