Early Wednesday morning, a tragic fire erupted in a house in the Shiv Nagar area of Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of six people, including two children, due to smoke inhalation.
The fire, which broke out around 2:30 AM, engulfed the house while the occupants were asleep. Local residents, alerted by the flames, rushed to the scene and attempted to rescue those trapped inside.
All ten occupants were transported to the Government Medical College Hospital in Kathua, where six were tragically pronounced dead upon arrival. The deceased have been identified as Ganga Bhagat (17), Danish Bhagat (15), Avatar Krishan, Barkha Raina (25), Takash Raina (3), and Advik Raina (4).
Four individuals, including Swarna (61), Neetu Davi (40), Arun Kumar (15), and Kewal Krishan, sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims succumbed to smoke inhalation, with no significant burn injuries reported.
