India reported 211 new Covid cases on Thursday, marking a small increase from the previous day’s count. However, the overall active caseload continues to decline, reaching 1,478. This is significantly lower than the peak seen during the Delta wave in 2021, when daily cases exceeded 400,000.
While a new variant and colder weather conditions have contributed to the recent uptick in cases, the numbers remain within manageable levels. The highest daily case count since December 5th was 841, still considerably lower than the historical peak.
India has successfully navigated through three Covid waves, with the Delta wave being the most severe. The country has witnessed over 4.5 crore infections and 5.3 lakh deaths since the pandemic began. However, with over 4.4 crore people having recovered, the recovery rate remains high.
