In a major success under their anti-drug operation “Sanjeevani,” the Jammu Police apprehended two drug peddlers and seized a significant amount of narcotics.
Officers set up a vehicle checkpoint at Dharap. A suspicious Swift car (JK 01 AB 4108) was stopped, and a search revealed over 26 grams of heroin-like substance hidden on the two occupants.
The driver, identified as Asrar Ahmed Wani (son of Gulam Nabi Wani) from Batwara BB Cantonment, Srinagar, was found with 13.86 grams of the substance.
His passenger, Tariq Hussain (son of Mohd Ramzan) from Batwara, Srinagar, was carrying an additional 12.38 grams.
Unable to explain the possession of the illegal drugs, both men were arrested. A case (FIR No 89/24 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act) has been registered at PS Satwari, and investigations are ongoing.
