This revision, with April 1, 2025, as the qualifying date for voter eligibility, is being conducted due to the vacancies created by the death of MLA Devender Singh Rana (Nagrota) and the resignation of Omar Abdullah (Budgam). Abdullah, who also won the Ganderbal seat, opted to retain that constituency.
Key dates for the Special Summary Revision (SSR) include:
- April 4, 2025: Rationalization of polling stations.
- April 8, 2025: Publication of the integrated draft electoral roll.
- April 8-24, 2025: Period for filing claims and objections.
- May 2, 2025: Final resolution of claims and objections.
- May 5, 2025: Publication of the final electoral roll.
The respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) are tasked with ensuring accurate voter registration, adhering to Article 326 of the Indian Constitution and the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
In the previous assembly elections, Omar Abdullah secured victories in both Ganderbal and Budgam, while Devender Singh Rana retained the Nagrota seat with a substantial margin.
