J&K Highway Closed Due to Rain-Triggered Landslides

Given the persistent heavy rainfall causing multiple landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remains closed to all vehicular traffic. This critical route has been impacted at various points due to the severe weather.

In addition to the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, the Mughal Road, Sinthan Road, and the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road are also currently impassable due to similar weather-related disruptions.

The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police is strongly advising all commuters against planning any travel on these routes until the weather improves and necessary road clearing and safety measures are completed. Their advisory states, “Due to heavy rains and continuing landslides, Jammu Srinagar National highway is closed. People are strongly advised not to undertake any journey till further notice.”

Authorities have initiated restoration efforts; however, the ongoing adverse weather conditions are impeding progress. The situation is being closely monitored, and updates regarding the reopening of these roads will be issued as soon as they are safe for travel.
