Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have forgotten the significance of Article 370 in the past four years due to the development, efficient administration, transparency, and other initiatives taken by the government.
He said that the people were made to believe that Article 370 was very important and that its revocation would lead to their ruin and the seizure of their land. However, he said that the people have seen progress, effective governance, transparency, and numerous welfare measures in the past four years. These developments have made Jammu and Kashmir a prominent Union Territory in various aspects.
Sinha also said that the people of Kashmir have come to realize that their future is intertwined with India. He said that they have seen the conditions in Pakistan, where there is a scarcity of food and facilities, and that India has grown in prestige and influence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This realization has solidified the people’s commitment to India.
Sinha dismissed the claims of demographic changes post the abrogation of Article 370 as “propaganda.” He said that even states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have restrictions on outsiders buying agricultural land, just like in Jammu and Kashmir.
