In a continued effort to curb drug trafficking, Kulgam Police apprehended a suspect carrying illegal substances.
During a patrol near the J&K bank in Wanpoh, a police team led by the Incharge Police Post Mirbazar spotted a suspicious individual with a nylon bag. The person attempted to flee upon noticing the officers but was swiftly apprehended.
The suspect, identified as Firoz Ahmad (son of Mohd Shahjahan) from Madanpur Khadar Delhi, currently residing in Harnag Anantnag, was found carrying 1.2 kilograms of grinded cannabis powder, believed to be a narcotic substance. He was arrested and taken into custody at the Police Station.
A case (FIR No. 165/2024) has been registered at Police Station Qazigund under relevant legal provisions, and an investigation is underway.
The police urge the community to report any information regarding drug peddling in their vicinity. They reiterate their commitment to eradicating this menace and assure residents of their ongoing efforts to keep the society safe from drugs.
