Mohammad Rafi, a resident of Trown village in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, disappeared on Tuesday evening along with an AK-47 rifle belonging to a Special Police Officer (SPO) who was accompanying him.
The SPO, Safdar Hussain, had left the vehicle briefly to buy supplies at Pul Doda when Rafi allegedly drove away with the weapon.
Authorities recovered Rafi’s car near the Jagota area of Bhalla, but neither Rafi nor the rifle were found inside.
A search operation is underway to locate Rafi and retrieve the missing weapon. Officials believe Rafi may be hiding in his village.
Trown village locals have urged Rafi to return home, assuring him that any problems he may be facing can be resolved peacefully.
